OFB Political Action Committee
The Oregon Farm Bureau Political Action Committee - OPAC - is a non-profit organization that promotes political candidates at the local, state, and national level that serve agriculture interests in Oregon.
Founded in 1977, OPAC's principle sources of revenue are donations and fundraisers. Money raised works to elect government officials who understand and care about family farms and ranches, which are continually threatened by severe, often impractical legislation.
OPAC also holds a seat on Ag-PAC, a coalition of two dozen agriculture and natural resource groups dedicated to electing state legislators and statewide officeholders who value, understand, and promote the needs of Oregon's natural resource-based communities. Ag-PAC can be found at http://www.agpacinc.com/.
Oregon Farm Bureau also supports the efforts of Ag-PAC Educational Services, a 501(c)3 charitable organization that organizes legislative tours of agricultural regions of Oregon and emphasizes educating elected officials about the challenges facing modern family agricultural producers.
Oregon tax law provides a tax credit of up to $50 per individual ($100 per couple) per year for qualifying political contributions, such as those made to OPAC, making them essentially free. OFB members can even save a stamp if they send their contribution in with their membership renewal form!
To make a donation to OPAC, indicate this on your OFB membership renewal form or simply send a check made out to “OPAC” to:
