Frequently Asked Questions
Membership Dues Increase – Effective September 2025

When will this membership dues increase take effect?

The new dues rate will take effect on September 1, 2025. Membership renewal notices reflecting the updated amount will begin being sent on August 15, 2025.

Who decided on a dues increase?

In 2024, member delegates representing county Farm Bureaus from across the state met at the Oregon Farm Bureau (OFB) Annual Meeting and voted to increase the portion of membership dues that OFB receives. This action was not taken lightly. Delegates were mindful of the economic pressures facing agriculture, including rising costs and decreasing farm income.

Why are my Farm Bureau membership dues increasing?

Several factors led to the decision to raise dues. Among the most important are increased operating costs across the organization and changes to OFB’s endorsement agreements. The OFB Board of Directors proposed a dues increase, which was discussed and approved by member delegates at the 2024 OFB Annual Meeting. This step is essential to maintaining OFB’s effectiveness in representing Oregon agriculture. Additionally, the Board continues to evaluate and explore non-dues revenue opportunities to support the organization and its members.

Do all of my membership dues go to the state organization (OFB)?

No. $150 of your dues support essential services provided by OFB at the state level. $5 is allocated to the American Farm Bureau for national-level advocacy and representation. The remaining portion stays with your county Farm Bureau.

Will my dues increase by more than $40?

Each county Farm Bureau is an independent nonprofit organization. Local boards determine the amount of county-level dues. Some counties may choose to implement a modest increase to help maintain essential local operations.

Why are there different membership dues amounts collected for each county?

Each county Farm Bureau operates independently and sets its own local dues. These local dues are added to the state and national dues, resulting in varying total dues amounts by county. Because Farm Bureau is a federated organization, membership at the county level also includes membership in the state and national organizations.

Can I join the local county and not the state or national organizations?

No. Farm Bureau operates as a Federation. Meaning when you join, you become a member of the county, state, and national organizations with one combined payment.
