Thanks to the generosity of the Oregon Farm Bureau Women’s Advisory Council (WAC) and several county Farm Bureaus, two Ronald McDonald houses in Portland and one in Springfield were presented with several thousand dollars worth of groceries this month.
The Ronald McDonald House is a beacon of hope for families facing the overwhelming challenges of caring for a seriously ill child. These houses offer a comforting and affordable "home away from home" for families, allowing them to stay close to their children while they receive medical treatment. The impact of these facilities extends far beyond a place to rest – they provide a sense of community and support during times of great stress and uncertainty.
The Oregon Farm Bureau Women’s Committee has for many years acknowledged the remarkable efforts of the Ronald McDonald House and has worked hard to raise funds each year for much needed supplies. On October 2, 2023, eighteen full grocery carts made their way to two local Portland houses and on October 16, 2023, seven carts worth of groceries worked it’s way to the Springfield Ronald McDonald house.
County Farm Bureau’s that donated to this cause include Jefferson, Washington, Marion, Polk, Linn, Multnomah, Lane, Union, Yamhill, Douglas, Benton, Coos-Curry, Josephine, and Columbia.
